Alnwick in Northumberland is a historic market town located just five miles inland from the coast. Alnwick is one of the UK's favourite tourist destinations and it's historic buildings and cobbled streets date back to 600AD. Alnwick has a population of approximately 10,000 and was the proud winner of the coveted "best place to live in the UK" accolade.

Travel time to/from Alnwick and our bed and breakfast accommodation is approximately fifty minutes by car. By public transport the town is served by the X15 and X18 bus services that regularly depart Newcastle upon Tyne's Haymarket bus station.

Alnwick is a small Northumberland market town that has several tourist attractions including both traditional and international music festivals, a medieval jousting tournament, a popular food festival and a beer festival. Alnwick's marketplace holds a market every Saturday all year round from 9am until 4pm with an additional Thursday market from April until December. Alnwick also hosts regular continental and farmer's markets with a regular farmer's market on the last Friday of every month from 9am until 2pm.

Alnwick is famously home to Alnwick Castle and neighbouring Alnwick Gardens.

Alnwick is also the home of Howick Hall Gardens & Arboretum, the former home of Earl Grey. This is a popular destintion for garden enthusiasts. Howick Hall is set in over 90 acres with 25 acres of garden and a 65 acre Arboretum providing woodland walks. Their website is here. The Bailiffgate Museum is also located in the town at 14 Bailiffgate, Alnwick, Northumberland, NE66 1LX. This is a small, independent museum of local history for North Northumberland with art exhibitions, talks, school visits and family events.
