If you're using public transport the E1, E2 and E6 bus services all travel between South Shields and Sunderland. These services are ideal to use if you are staying with us to visit Fulwell, Roker, Seaburn, Seaburn Dene, South Bents and Whitburn areas of the city. Alternatively if you are visiting Dene Estate, Monkwearmouth Hospital on Newcastle Road, Carley Hill, Witherwack, Red House, Downhill, Town End Farm, Hylton Castle, Southwick, Millfield, Pallion, Ford Estate, Quarry View, South Hylton, Pennywell, High Barnes, Sunderland Royal Hospital, University of Sunderland, Pennywell, Hastings Hill, Grindon, Springwell, City of Sunderland College, Thorney Close, Plains Farm, Barnes Park, Hillview, Tunstall Hills, Sunderland Eye Hospital, Hendon, Grangetown, Silksworth, Vicarage Farm, Gilley Law, Farringdon, East Herrington, Doxford International, Doxford Park, Mill Hill and Hall Farm then we recommend taking the #20 bus service to Sunderland Park Lane interchange then transferring to a more localised bus route. This method will ensure you have the shortest journey time.

The #12 service travels to Vicarage Farm via Barnes Park and Silksworth. The #13 service travels to Hall Farm via Barnes Park, Silksworth, Gilley Law, Farringdon, Doxford Park and Mill Hill. The #16 service travels to Hastings Hill via Chester Road and Sunderland Royal Hospital, High Barnes, Springwell and Grindon. The #18 and #19 services pass through Thorney Close, Grindon, Springwell, Plains Farm, Pallion, Southwick, Fulwell, Seaburn, South Bents, Roker, Hendon, Grangetown, Hillview and Barnes Park. The #20 bus service travels to Pennywell via Hylton Road and Sunderland Royal Hospital and High Barnes. The #23 service travels to Dene Estate via Fulwell.
