Directions to Annie's Guest House From Newcastle International Airport, NE13 8BZ

We recommend taking the Metro (train) service from Newcastle International Airport to South Shields. Total journey time is around 55 minutes with a short walk (or taxi ride) from South Shields Metro station to our guest house on Beach Road.

Once you have exited the arrivals area of Newcastle International Airport turn left and follow the internal signage to the Tyne & Wear Metro station. A summary of the first, last and frequency of trains can be seen below...

Tyne & Wear Metro ticket prices are as follows...

Newcastle International Airport to South Shields - single (one-way) journey adult ticket costs £3.30. If you will be returning to Newcastle upon Tyne later that day we recommend that you initially buy an adult DaySaver ticket for £5.00 which allows a full day of Tyne & Wear Metro travel.

A child's single fare is 80p and a child's DaySaver ticket (under 15, proof of age required for over 12's) is £1.20.

The above ticket prices are correct January 2017.

For returning visitors to the North East who may be wondering about off-peak/peak time tickets, off-peak/peak daysavers and return tickets - Tyne & Wear Metro revised it's ticket pricing structure in January 2013. Return and peak/off-peak ticket pricing is no more. It's now just a single fare or DaySaver with no peak or off-peak times.

This Metro map summarises the route although the yellow line that services South Shields Metro station terminates at St James' hence the over-lapping stations are those listed above (South Gosforth, Ilford Road, West Jesmond, Jesmond, Haymarket, Monument, Central Station, Gateshead, Gateshead Stadium, Felling, Heworth and Pelaw).

After boarding the Metro at the airport (on the green line) you will need to change onto a South Shields-bound yellow line train at either South Gosforth, Ilford Road, West Jesmond, Jesmond, Haymarket (recommended), Monument (recommended), Central Station (recommended), Gateshead, Gateshead Stadium, Felling, Heworth (recommended) or Pelaw Metro stations.

Once you have arrived at South Shields Metro station it takes approximately ten minutes to walk to our guest house accommodation. The walking route can be seen in the image below...

South Shields bus station is labelled A and can be found on the top left of the image, Annie's Guest House is labelled B and can be found on the right side of the image.

The recommended walking route from South Shields Metro station to our guest house accommodation in South Shields is as follows... exit the Metro station via the Kepple Street exit and turn left. Now walk towards HSBC bank at the bottom of Fowler Street. With HSBC bank on your left walk along Fowler Street until you reach the traffic lights at the top of the street. South Shields town hall will be in front of you with it's tall clock and bell tower prominently visible. This is the bottom of Beach Road. Turn left and walk along Beach Road, crossing straight over the small roundabout. We are door number 106 on the right hand side of the street, half way along Beach Road.

Alternatively, if your bags are too numerous and/or heavy you can easily take a taxi from the rank along side the Kepple Street exit of South Shields Metro station. Because it's such a short journey this will only cost you a few pounds.
