On the image above 'A' is the Maritime and Coastguard Agency's MCA Tyne building Compass House within Port of Tyne. 'B' is the entrance to Port of Tyne aka Tyne Dock and 'C' is the location of our bed and breakfast accommodation. Travel time to/from MCA Tyne and our guest house is less than ten minutes. We usually recommend that guests drive or take a taxi to Compass House rather than use public transport as Tyne Dock is quite sprawling and you will have to walk from the entrance (shown as letter 'B' on the map above) to Compass House (shown as letter 'A' on the map above). For guests wishing to use public transport the easiest method is the 27 bus route. A timetable a route for this service is shown below. The 27 bus can be caught from the bottom of our street, journey time to the bus stop opposite the Port of Tyne's main entrance is approximately 8 minutes.

The Port of Tyne infamously exported coal but has now diversified into bulk cargo, car terminals, ferries and cruises, logistics, estates and marine and environmental services. This was only possible as a result of a £100 million decade of investment resulting in The Port of Tyne winning Port operator of the year in the Lloyds List London Awards 2008.

Port of Tyne is accessible for all vessels to enter the port with no beam restrictions. There are also three rail terminals meaning the presence of rail infrastructure has massively increased since rennovation. The Port of Tyne's car businesses have increased from 300,000 to 600,000 in five years indicating that business is booming. It is considered to be one of the UK's leading and efficient handling terminals. The Port of Tyne is renound for its high security area which is close to convenient facilities such as bars restaurants and cash points. Port services such as mooring, pilotage and towage are conducted 24 hours a day 365 days a year. The Port of Tyne has short term and long term lets as well as office accommodation available. They all benefit from high security, landscaping, housekeeping and energy measures. There are also close links to public transport such as Newcastle International Airport.
